The Challenge

Love & Freshwater had something real — a handcrafted organic soap product worth selling. But a great product doesn't sell itself. The founder needed everything else. A name can only take you so far without a face.

There was no brand. No logo to put on packaging. No visual language that said "this is who we are." Without that, the product couldn't go to market. Customers couldn't recognize it. Retailers wouldn't stock it. The product was ready. The brand wasn't.

And even with a brand, there was nowhere to sell. No online store. No checkout flow. No way for someone who found the brand on social media to actually buy it. The path from discovery to purchase didn't exist yet.

Starting from zero is actually harder than fixing something broken. Every decision is foundational. The logo you build first influences every design that follows. The platform you choose shapes how the business scales. We had to get it right from the start — because the first version would set the direction for everything that came after.

What We Built

We handled the complete startup launch — brand identity, packaging, and Shopify store. One engagement, one team, everything connected.

Why does brand identity come before the store?

Because every decision in the store design flows from the brand. The colors, the fonts, the photography style, the tone of the product descriptions — all of it should come from a unified identity. If you build the store first and figure out branding later, you end up rebuilding half of it. Getting the logo and brand system right first means the store gets built once.

What does packaging design actually involve?

Packaging for a physical product is more than putting a logo on a box. It includes material choices, print specifications, typography hierarchy, regulatory copy placement, barcode sizing, and how the design looks at small scale. Good packaging also photographs well. For an e-commerce brand, the product photo is the packaging — it's the first thing a potential buyer sees. We designed for both the shelf and the camera.

Why Shopify for an organic soap brand?

Shopify gives a new product brand everything it needs without requiring a developer on staff. Payment processing, inventory, shipping rates, discount codes, abandoned cart recovery — all out of the box. The founder can manage orders, update products, and run promotions without touching code. As the business grows, the platform scales with it. It was the right foundation for a brand launching from scratch.
